Marlborough a region of great beauty and bounty is accessible by sea via the Ferry from Wellington or by Plane. From the sparkling waters of the Marlborough Sounds to beautiful valleys lined with grape vines this region has good living fully covered.
This region should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World as it is virtually untouched lands, bays and coves surrounded by fabulous mountain ranges and on the other side many miles of beautiful vineyards.
For those who like tramping why not try one of New Zealand’s finest tracks, the Queen Charlotte. The track wends it’s way through the lush native forest surrounding Queen Charlotte Sound …to beautiful bays to nighttime stopovers dotted along the away a must do if you want to get back to nature at its finest.
From the emerald green depths of the Queen Charlotte and Pelorus Sounds to the Wairau Plains spread with bejeweled vines … the Marlborough Region’s gentle beauty is legendary.
The port town of Picton services the Sounds while Blenheim is at the centre of all the vineyard action.
Marlborough’s food and wine trails keep visitors well satisfied not to mention their world famous Marlborough Food and Wine Festival that shows off the regions gold medal wining wines and goods to great effect given that it is one of New Zealand’s premier wine growing regions, featuring stony ground, brilliant late sunny days, weather wine growers live for.
Suggest staying at one of the lodges on the sounds if you are here in summer (November – March) for 3-5 days and just relax. If not spend at least a weekend in this region.
